Sometimes I sit and wonder how did I ever get here. When we are young and idealistic we think we can conquer the world with a squirt gun and damn the torpedos. After the world has dealt us a poo sandwich for 25 years we think we couldnt put out a match with that same squirt gun. Not that I am manic just having a moment of introspection of how I arrived here in 2009. We do not live in the world we grew up in. As a baby of the 60's and child of 70's in remote Mississippi nothing I see now even remotely reminds me of my younger days. The innocence has long since been raped away by society. The politicians we us to look up to as almost mythical figures such as Senator Eastland from my hometown have been replaced by used car salemans masking themselves as people protecting the good of the nations while all the while selling a lemon and calling it a Caddy. The family has been shot to hell by everything from the constant bombardment of tv to the 2 household income just to struggle to pay the bills and have a pizza on Saturday night. The church has been replaced by CEO's and looks no different than the buisness world. And mom and pop buisness has been eaten, digested, and pooped out by Wal Mart in the name of giving the customer what they want.
We have become a nations of idiots because we play to the lowest common level in school to make sure we do not offend anyone or fail them cause God forbid we hurt their little feelings and the Government is now an employment agency and the fail safe for all mankind instead of having to work hard and make a honest living we just lean on Old tired Uncle my butt is raw from giving Sam to bail everyone out and make us feel good about our self. What the fat ever happened to if u suck u suck, make it better or fail because u suck. Guess we can't handle the truth anymore.
Oh well to end on a positive note in the Words of Keb Mo's Life is Beautiful
Let's go drifin through the treesLet's go sailing on the seaLet's go dancing on the juke-join floorAnd leave our troubles all behind, have a partySo easily forgotten, are the most important thingsLike the melody and the moonlight in your eyesAnd a song that lasts foreverEach song getting better all the timeLife is beautiful, life is wonderousEvery star above shining just for usLife is beautiful, on a stormy nightSomewhere in the world the sun is shining brightI get crazy, so afraidThat I might lose you some fine dayAnd I'll be nothing but a tired old manAnd I don't wanna be without you at the partySo easily forgotten, the most important thingIs that I love you - I doAnd I want to spend my days and nightsWalking through this crazy world with youLife is beautiful, life is wonderousEvery star above shining just for usLife is beautiful, on a stormy nightSomewhere in the world the sun is shining bright(inst verse)So easily forgotten, the most important thingIs that I love you - I doAnd I want to spend my days and nightsWalking through this crazy world with you(that's right baby)Life is beautiful, life is wonderousEvery star above shining just for usLife is beautiful, on a stormy nightSomewhere in the world the sun is shining brightShining Bright.
